Power Packed OPC Solutions

We are your source for power-packed OPC solutions. Whether you are looking for simple off-the-shelf solutions or a complete custom turnkey installation, the services we provide excel in meeting the specific OPC requirements of our customers. We have decades of experience in data acquisition, vibration monitoring, system design, integration, and deployment in many industries including the utilities and manufacturing. Providing OPC server and client solutions to end users, 3rd party integrators and manufacturers is our business, and total customer satisfaction with system reliability and rapid cycle time from specification to deployment is our goal.

System Components Creating Solutions

The power packed OPC server and client solutions that we provide are comprised of one or more components each of which may be part of a system that forms the solution. Each component can operate independently in various applications, but may be tied together as part of a solution. OPC servers, OPC clients, various other components or modules, and a center hub all function as part of the system that allows your data to be extracted, combined, manipulated, displayed, and archived to a database. While many customers' solutions require all of these components, many others require only one or two. For example, a piece of hardware may be operating in isolation as an island, and data from that hardware is unavailable anywhere else. By linking an OPC server with that hardware, the data acquired by that hardware can now be accessed elsewhere in your plant and used however you desire.

One of the trends in recent years has been to share data between dissimilar systems, and a problem that OPC has sought to solve is bridging the disparity amongst manufacturers' methods by which data is made available. By creating a standard through which data is shared (made available by an OPC server, retrieved by an OPC client), the details of accessing the data are left to the OPC server rather than to customizing a proprietary monitoring or SCADA system which can be expensive. Our power packed OPC server and client solutions address these needs by providing numerous methods through which data can be acquired, shared and more.

OPC Servers A key part of any system is the OPC server(s) which presents the data in a standard form to the rest of the system. Finding an OPC server to present your data in a generic form is an option that solves the problems of many customers. However some customers require that the data be presented in a meaningful way. For example if your hardware has a MODBUS option for output, a generic MODBUS OPC server can read the registers and present the data in a generic form. A more intuitive approach is to understand the device and present the data as a temperature, pressure, voltage, or value in some engineering units. We are able address both of these problems to provide either of these types of solutions to best satisfy your needs.

OPC Clients The OPC clients in a system function together with the OPC servers to access data. As the OPC servers present the data, the OPC clients retrieve the data to be displayed and stored by the monitoring software. In addition to data retrieval, OPC clients occasionally send data to OPC servers for control signals, setpoints etc. Our OPC clients can operate in both modes, and often perform their tasks along with our PowerPAC-OPC hub to combine data from various hardware for manipulation (calculations), presentation, storage, and to make all of this data available via the PowerPAC OPC server. In other words, the PowerPAC-OPC hub can retrieve data from various OPC servers, run calculations on this data, and make all of the data available as a single OPC server.
